Izzy’s Autohaus (2024) is an installation consisting of Ceramic, Woodcut, Monotype, and Video. Through the creation of a miniature car dealership, I was able to make the image of a car small, fragile, and ultimately vulnerable, while I was also able to play with the irony of preformative capitalism through advertisement and a real marketplace during the duration of the show. Cars are complicated symbols for me; always reflecting danger, isolation, and masculine hostility, while to so many others a symbol of freedom and self-determination. Through the construction of my own Autohaus, my goal was to also investigate my relationship with cars themselves, and to take back some power from them.
